The Resurrection of Christ

1882
Stained glass
Church of the Assumption, Windsor, Ontario, Canada

The key image in the window is the resurrected Christ stepping out of the sarcophagus with his traditional banner, but a few details derive specifically from Matthew 28:2-4, where an "angel of the Lord" in snow-white garb rolls the stone away from the mouth of the tomb. Following Matthew, the soldiers are shown not sleeping but "struck with terror."
